Starting from February, the streets of Riga and other Latvias cities will feature the poster Aizbiedç smoga spoku iestâdi savu koku! (Scare away the smog ghost plant your tree!) designed by Elîna Kïaveniece, a 10th grade student of Iecava Secondary School. |
| The poster was made for the Creative Advertising Contest Cita Holivuda (Other Hollywood) within the social campaign run by JSC Latvijas valsts meþi, SEB Bank, Clear Channel and Junior Achievement Association. A total of 950 advertising entries were submitted for the contest, of which 260 entries were devoted to the social campaigns assignment Iestâdi savu koku! (Plant your tree!). The number of the submitted entries has doubled compared to last year. Tomass Kotoviès, Head of LVM Communication Division, admits: We are truly happy that students have displayed such activity in creation of a social poster. This years assignment was quite challenging: the contestants had to design a poster which clearly communicates the message that trees should be planted not because Latvia lacks them, but because they absorb carbon dioxide while producing oxygen, which is essential for breathing. The winner Elîna has managed the task well. Up until now, the poster created by the last years winner Jânis Spurdziòð, a student of Babîte Secondary School, has been seen on many outdoor advertising stands. The poster depicts a stylized zip-fastener which connects nature and people and calls for taking part in forest cleanup events. Participation in the contest Cita Holivuda offers a great opportunity for schoolchildren to experience what it feels like to be an advertising agency employee and to test their ability in ad-making. It is a way to show others ones creativity and express ones views, by designing an advertisement of a product or a social advertisement. |
