The 2011 National Park Ambassador award has been granted to nature photographer Hannu Hautala. Metsähallitus Natural Heritage Services awards this new, annual acknowledgement to persons or organisations that have made significant efforts to benefit the nation’s national parks. Mr Hautala is an innovative nature photographer dedicated to Finnish nature, and his photographs have made the natural environment of Oulanka National Park known worldwide. At the same time, he has inspired people to protect our unique national parks and get to know their nature.
From now on, Metsähallitus Natural Heritage Services will grant the National Park Ambassador award to one or two persons or an organisation each year on 24 May, the European Day of Parks.
