How do competent forestry contractors achieve good profitability and attract the right personnel? The Golden Logger award will help to spread knowledge of this.
SkogForsk and Elmia provide the award as a way of spreading knowledge of the methods used by successful forestry contractors to others. The prize is awarded at the SkogsElmia exhibition at the end of May.
Sveaskog has nominated several contractors from different parts of the country. Hans Welff, production manager in Bergslagen, has proposed Tifa Skog AB. His justification reads as follows:
"Tifa Skog AB is a modern, far-sighted forestry contractor. The company is a very open-minded and constructive working partner for Sveaskog; it has a genuine interest in new work methods and new technology while maintaining good control of its own finances and profitability.
As a working partner, Tifa Skog has made a mark through its active participation in the various training courses arranged by Sveaskog. Moreover, it has on several occasions been out in front, showing its willingness to try new methods, for example, the implementation of multi-tree processing in Bergslagen as well as in other market areas in Sweden.
Tifa Skog has a comprehensive perspective that makes for excellent cooperation. Mats Larsson, the owner of Tifa Skog, has also learnt how to use the planning tool GISS–ÅP, which makes him one of the few contractors that can plan in Giss."
Tifa Skog works exclusively for Sveaskog, in forests belonging to Sveaskog and Sveaskog's suppliers. It works primarily in the Laxå-Hasselfors-Rudskoga area to the south of Kristinehamn. Mats Larsson has five employees.
